Man charged with violating DVP

A Mt. Gay man was arrested on December 23 for violating a DVP that had been issued on October 9.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Logan County Sheriff Deputies J.N. Sheppard and J.M. Miller, found Charles Lee Hughes, 54, in the custody of West Virginia State Trooper R.L. Glaspell. Hughes had allegedly went to the residence of the victim (his wife) and demanded to be let inside. When she refused, he reportedly became “irate and stated that he was going to kill her.” Hughes also allegedly pulled a knife out on the victim through the door.
Hughes was also charged with domestic assault and brandishing a deadly weapon. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
In other court news:
• Herbert Dwight Allen, 38, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, simple possession, left of center, driving suspended/revoked for non DUI, and registration violation on December 22 by Chapmanville Police Department officers L. Preece and N. Tucker. He was released on a $2,500 bond.
• John Ruford Richards, 42, was arrested and charged with driving suspended/revoked for DUI, speeding, no operators and seat belt violation on December 22 by WVSP Tpr. R.L. Glaspell. He was released on a $2,500 bond.
• Brett Allen Collins, 37, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 15 grams on December 23 by WVSP Tpr. B.A. Lowe. He was released on a $2,500 bond.
• Kirby Eugene Franklin, 41, was arrested and charged with domestic assault on December 23 by Logan Police Department officers J.L. Sheppard and K.R. Conley. He was released on a $2,500 bond.
