The Chapmanville Regional and Man High School softball teams picked up Saturday wins on the road.

Chapmanville improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-3 Cardinal Conference win at Point Pleasant.

Man, the defending Class A state champions, won its season opener with a 20-0, four-inning victory at sectional foe Van.

The Lady Tigers led 3-0 after four and a half innings before Point Pleasant scored a run in last half of the fifth to make it 3-1. Chapmanville then plated one in the top of the seventh to go up 4-1. The Lady Knights scored two in the bottom of the seventh to fall short.

Andi Williamson pitched the win for Chapmanville. She fired seven innings and allowed three runs and two hits while striking out 18.

Williamson also had a double for the Lady Tigers. Poppy Ramey, Beth Baldwin, Jenna Evans, Alison Evans and Lauren McCann all singled.

Man was led by pitcher Marlena Frye who hurled a no-hitter and struck out eight Van batters.

Chapmanville returns to action on Wednesday at home against Wayne in another league contest. Game time is 5:30 p.m. The Lady Tigers also stand at 2-0 in the Cardinal Conference.

The Lady Billies are slated to host Liberty-Raleigh on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in their home opener.
