LOGAN – A neighbor’s quick thinking stopped a burglary at Henlawson and landed two women in jail.

On Monday, Jan. 7, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call reporting a possible burglary. When Lt. D.E. Brown and Deputy N.Booth arrived at the residence, they found Eunice Fillinger and Joann Terry inside.

The deputies spoke with the owner, who lives in Huntington, and were told no one was authorized to be in the residence.

Fillinger and Terry were arrested for nighttime burglary. In addition to the burglary charges, Fillinger was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

According to Logan County Sheriff Sonya Porter, the neighbor was key in the arrests by calling in the complaint.

“Working through the communities and its residents is critical to helping us solve these types of crimes,” she said.

Sheriff Porter encourages residents of all communities to call when they see and hear suspicious activity.
