The Logan Middle School girls’ basketball team continued its stellar 2012-13 roundball season with Monday night’s 43-28 win at Hurricane.

LMS was led by Lexi Hines who had a double-double with 16 points and a season-high 17 rebounds. She also had two steals, two assists and a blocked shot.

Sydnee Roberts also had a strong game for the Lady Wolves, scoring 12 points and also registering four steals and three rebounds.

Tomi Nelson played well for Logan, too, as she also had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds. She also contributed four blocked shots and two steals.

“Those three girls really stepped up tonight and carried us to a big victory against a very good team,” LMS coach Carol Workman said. “We were missing a starter tonight, but these girls made sure that we didn’t come out of here on the wrong end.”

Logan’s Beth Adkins fought off an early ankle injury to score two points and pull down five rebounds.

“Beth is tough as nails and she showed it tonight,” Coach Workman said.

The Lady Wolves’ Chelsea Napier came off the bench and hit a big 3-pointer. She also hauled down seven rebounds.

Steph Curry got into early foul trouble but fought her way through it to play strong defense and grab four rebounds.

In the JV game, Logan Middle escaped with a 26-22 victory over Hurricane.

Jazmyne Early led the way with nine points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals for Logan.

Ally Sipple scored a season-high six points and added three steals, one assist and two rebounds.

Alexis Perry added four points, five rebounds, four steals and four assists for LMS.

Maggie Doss contributed three points and three rebounds, while Steph Eplin added two points, three steals and three assists.

Alexis Canterbury chipped in with points, two rebounds, a steal and an assist for the Lady Wolves.

Larra Elkins, Britney Welch and Zoe Browning all played strong defensively, combining for 10 rebounds.

“It was not our best game, but Hurricane had a strong fourth quarter to make it close,” Logan Middle School JV coach Hazel Mollett said.

LMS was scheduled to return to action Wednesday night at Point Pleasant.
