WHITMAN, W.Va. —David Sammie L. Coleman, 76, of Whitman, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born April 2, 1936, in Veto, Ala., he was a son of the late David D. and Tommie Holt. Also preceding him in death were two sons, DeWayne and Jeffrey; one daughter, Melissa; one sister, Shirley; one brother, Clyde, and one step-daughter, Debra Mason.
Sammie attended Aracoma High School and retired from the old Aracoma Beverage Company in Cora.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include four sons, Harlen T. Coleman of Charleston, Robert L. (Anita) West of Charlotte, N.C., Troy B. (Debbie) Copley of Clendenin, and Charles S. (Tonia) Coleman of Franklin; six daughters, Thelma J. and Alvernita Coleman, and Barbara J. (Charles) Boatwright, all of Logan, Tracey L Coleman of Charlotte, and Sarita S. Lawson and Latisha L. Holmes, both of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers, Paul (Barbara) Coleman of Miami, Fla., Robert L (Bobbie) Coleman of Abilene, Texas and David Coleman of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Mary (Edward) Parks of Cleveland and Beulah (John) Frazier of Huntington; ex-sister-in-law, Linda J. Cowan of Logan; two stepdaughters, Meshelle Murphy and Joetta Murphy; five stepsons, Marvin Rollins and Todd, Garland, Henry, Cornelius and DeAundre Murphy; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 19, in the chapel of Chatman Funeral Home. Following services, his remains will be cremated and inurnment will be at a later date.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
