CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mr. Marvin Thompson, 61, of Chapmanville, was born August 12, 1951, at Logan, a son of Gaynelle Adams Thompson and the late Richard Thompson. He departed this life Wednesday, January 30, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.


Mr. Thompson had a strong long standing work history of 32 years in the coal mining industry, including being an electrician and boss, and a member of the Garretts Fork Crime Watch and the UMWA. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, sportsman and NASCAR fan.


Also preceding him in death were his grandparents, Millard and Mary Thompson and Johnnie and Anna Adams; uncles, George and Willie Thompson and James Thomas Adams; aunt, Dicie Martin; in-laws, Frank and Lizzie Perry, and a special pet, Precious.


Additional survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Annabell Perry Thompson; daughter, Valerie (Jackie) Clay of Chapmanville; son, Zachary Thompson, at home; grandchildren, Hailey Chewning and Tanner Clay; special pets, Rascal and Julie, and many other relatives and friends.


The family wishes to thank the many special friends who visited and supported Marvin and his family and especially the David Lee Cancer Center in Charleston for their outstanding treatment and support.


Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 3, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Elders Warnie Meeks and Charlie Paulsen officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery at Trace Fork of Harts.


Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at funeral home.


Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of arrangements.
