MONAVILLE, W.Va. — Murl Adkins, 79, of Monaville, departed this life Friday, February 1, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.

Born August 17, 1933, in Cabell County, he was a son of the late Garnet and Quillie Blankenship Adkins. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Sherman, Stanley, Cecil and Elmer Adkins, and sister, Gladys Curry.

After serving in the Army, Murl was self-employed for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia Erlewine Adkins; sons, Sam Adkins, Timmy (Kammy) Miller, and Brian (Erica) Adkins; daughters, Sharon Nelson, Karen (Jerry) Duncan, Dee Pack and Angie Adkins; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, at Honaker Funeral Home with Pastor John E. Godby officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
