HENLAWSON, W.Va. — Delana Rose Franklin Conley, 80, of Henlawson, departed this life Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born January 8, 1933, in Little Buffalo at Henlawson, now known as Chief Logan State Park, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Goldie Raines Franklin. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Joe Conley; four brothers, Danford “Damp” Franklin, Vernon Franklin, Ronald Keith “Bill” Franklin and Homer Harold Franklin, and two sisters, Helen “Toots” Watts and Hazel Barker.
Delana enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening, attending church, nature and the sounds of birds and frogs. She was a member of the Chapmanville Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Delmas G. (Ada Marlene) Conley; one sister, Freda Justice; two grandchildren, Lisa (Todd) Vance and Craig (Grace) Conley; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn Conley, Matthew Carter, Lexi Vance and Deacon Conley, and special friends, Alda and Earl White and Lois Dingess.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 15, at Freeman Funeral Home with John Steele and Roger Brewster officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Delbert White, Todd Vance, Nathan Parsons, Roger Brewster and Roy Justice.
Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
