Traveling to Class AAA No. 1 Greenbrier East was sure to be a tough task for the Class A Man High School girls’ basketball team on Wednesday night.
The Spartans were too much for the Lady Billies to handle as Greenbrier East coasted to a 72-37 victory over Man.
Bianca Andre led the Spartans (19-0) with 17 points. Maddee Carroll pulled down 10 boards for the winners.
Man, which closed out the regular season with a 13-7 record, was paced by Summer Sword, who finished with a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Hannah Harvey added six points, while Morgan Conn had three. Taylor Whited and Keeley Porter had two each.
The Lady Billies started off well, leading East 12-10 after one quarter. The Spartans then outgunned Man 26-4 in the second quarter to grab a commanding 36-16 halftime advantage. Greenbrier East outpointed Man 19-14 in the third to lead 55-30. A 17-7 fourth by the Spartans then set the final score.
Man is scheduled to play in the Class A sectional tourney next week.
