HARTS, W.Va. — Ocie Hatfield Fugate, 77 of Harts, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at her residence.
Born September 5, 1935, in Guyan, she was a daughter of the late Onnie and Maggie Hatfield. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 33 years, Charles Fugate Sr.; her companion of 25 years, Tom Wright, and 12 siblings.
Ocie loved sewing, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She loved reading her Bible and visiting thrift stores.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Charles Fugate Jr. of Providence, Ky.; four daughters, Rhonda Belt of Providence, Mary (Greg) McCann and Fraulein (Billy) Adkins, both of Harts, and Charlene (Richard) Kirk of Barboursville; three step-daughters, Debbie Nichols, Cheryl Mills and Marty Murphy, all of Kentucky; two sisters, Vonnie Walls of Florida and Lucille (Chuck) DeBono of Michigan; three brothers, Lonnie “Buck” Hatfield, Roger Hatfield, and Freddie (Margaret) Hatfield, all of West Virginia; 18 grandchildren, Shawn Luzader, Melinda Stewart, Amanda Haught, Rebecca Kirk, Charles Fugate III, Sherry West, Ronnie (Frances) Brumfield, John (Patricia) McCann, Sarah (Marty) McCloud, Andrea (Allen) Gartin, Stan (Pam) Kirk, Angela (Glen) Church, Heather (TJ) Bell, Brandy (Kevin) Seavey, Clint (Becky) Adkins, Paul (Jodie) McCann, Zach (Alicen Patton) Adkins and Hannah (Joe) Shelton; many step-grandchildren; more than 30 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 23, at Freeman Funeral Home with Donnie Wells and Clint Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Harts Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, family and friends.
Memorial contributions can be made to Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville.
Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
