MAN – Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. has announced that its Logan County Coal Toney Fork No. 2 surface mine has surpassed 700 days without a lost time accident (LTA). In addition to Toney Fork’s safety achievement, Cliffs Logan County Coal’s Dingess Chilton underground mine has currently exceeded 135 days without a LTA, while its Powellton underground mine exceeded 100 days without a LTA in 2012.

“This is a significant accomplishment for Toney Fork and Cliffs Logan County Coal,” said Tom Smith, general manager for CLCC. “Safety is the number one core value of Cliffs. The milestones at Toney Fork and both the Dingess Chilton and Powellton mines demonstrate that our employees are incorporating Cliffs’ safety values into their work. Nothing is more important than ensuring that each of our employees work safely so they can return home to their families every day.”

Cliffs Logan County Coal, Pinnacle Mining Company, LLC, and Oak Grove Resources, LLC,
