Pill mill patients want refunds
At least one patient of the doctor arrested on drug charges Sunday is up in arms and wants a refund.
The patient, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she began seeing Dr. Gonzalez-Ramos when her doctor retired an estimated five years ago.
According to this patient, the doctor moved his office around a number of times. At first his office was in the Guyan Building. The office was moved to the Kruger Building by the hospital, then on to the Foot Clinic building across from McDonalds. After the office moved to its current West Logan location, the doctor moved to Texas and only came in once every three months for the weekend to see his patients.
As the doctor moved around, the amount he charged for a visit increased. The charge began at $100 a month. After the doctor started seeing patients once every three months, the charge began at $300, then went up to $350, and the current charge was up to $450.
This patient has the perception that the woman who worked with the doctor was a registered nurse. This nurse had worked with the patient’s previous doctor whose last name was Carbonel. The patient said all monies were paid to the nurse, who took the deposit to the bank on Saturday at around 10.
When many of the patients came in, they did not see the doctor. They saw the nurse who had filled in the prescription, which was signed by Dr. Gonzalez-Ramos. This particular patient had not seen the doctor inapproximately 18 months.
After the doctor was arrested on Sunday, patients began to scramble. They quickly found out they were not going to be able to get the prescriptions written by Dr. Gonzalez-Ramos filled.
This patient had two prescriptions: Xanax and Hydrocodone. The first prescription was filled on Saturday, but the patient was told the other two refills could not be filled.
When the patient tried to call the nurse, whose number was on the prescriptions and any other documents given to patients, she said not to ever call that number again.
This patient currently has an order for an MRI, but is afraid records will not be accessable and has no idea how to request them.
According to the patient, there are many patients who have the same concerns and want a refund for $300 since they paid $450 for three months of medication.
