CHAPMANVILLE — A parent who was reportedly under the influence of durgs has been charged in the death of their one month old baby Tuesday morning.
Timothy and Bessie Marcum of Chapmanville were charged with child neglect resulting in death Wednesday evening West Virginia State Police.
Police say Timothy had taken drugs and fell asleep while holding one-month-old Alexander. When he woke up, the baby’s face was pressed up against him. Alexander had been smothered and died.
Police say Bessie was arrested because she was in the house and knew Timothy had taken the drugs.
The Marcum’s were taken to the South Western Regional Jail.
