Sixteen Boston College Students opened the meeting of the Mingo County Commission with the Pledge of Allegiance, got a tour of the courthouse with Bill Davis, witnessed a case in Mingo County Magistrate Court and saw the inside of the holding cell in the basement. This was all before lunch. This is the fourth year a group of Boston College students have come to southern West Virginia during their Spring Break. The trips are organized by Wheeling Jesuit University. The goal of the trips is for the students to provide labor for service projects, experience first-hand the struggles and joys of the people of this unique region while learning about its important energy, environment, culture, and history.
