Police are reportedly looking into the death of another child of Timothy, 25, and Bessie Marcum, 21.

The couple was arrested on Wednesday, March 6, following the death of their youngest child, 1-month-old Alexander. Both were charged with child neglect resulting in death.

Another child of the couple, Timothy Jr., died May 28, 2010. The child was only a few months old, being born Feb. 8, 2010.

The Marcums told officers that both had taken prescription drugs, reportedly among them was Neurontin, which is used to treat pain in the nerves. Both fell asleep, but Timothy was holding Alexander in his arms. The complaint states that “the father fell asleep with the infant in his arms and allowed the infant to slide down between his arm and stomach, causing the infant to die.”

Bessie was charged because she knew Timothy had taken drugs and still allowed him to be the care taker of the child.

Sgt. L.J. McClung of the Logan State Police detachment, told The Daily Mail the couple lived in the home with the infant Alexander and two-year-old Kayden. Child Protective Services removed Kayden from the home, the trooper said.

Logan Sheriff Sonya Porter said the evidence from the investigation into Timothy Jr.’s death has been retrieved and turned over to the county prosecutor’s office. She said it was her understanding that some of that information had been turned over to the State Police.

“We’re providing as much information as we can on this,” Porter said.

Timothy remains at Southwestern Regional Jail on $50,000 bond. Bessie was released on a $50,000 bond.
