OAK ISLAND, N.C. — Mr. Claude Dalton, 71, of Oak Island, N.C., formerly of Harts, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his residence at Harts.
Born May 4, 1941, at Shively, he was a son of the late Pete and Bertha Bryant Dalton. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Ray (Pauline) Conley, Hillard (Theora) Dalton, Alvie (Dolly) Dalton and Roy “Jack” (Madeline) Dalton; sisters, Dorothy Dalton (Robert) Dempsey, Georgia Dalton (Dave) Bryant, Rosie Dalton (Holly) Mullins, Ruth Dalton Orme, and infants, Molly Dalton and Baby Hensley, and his father-in-law, Ward Browning.
Mr. Dalton was a disabled construction worker. He was also a member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Southport, N.C., and resided for most of his years in Oak Island with his wife Margie and two dogs, Baby and Fancy.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Margie Mae Browning Dalton; son, Stacy Claude (Loretta Workman) Dalton of Harts; daughters, Samantha Gillum Dalton of Oak Island and Kelly Tomblin (Greg) Browning, his grandchildren, Tiffany Dalton (Jon) Adkins, Darla Brook Dalton (Fianc Caleb Hensley), Brandon Ward (Brittany Bell) Gillum, Dustin Ray Gillum and Brandon Steven Adkins; great-granddaughter, Tiara Brook Adkins, all of Harts; brother, Luther Pity (Jenetta) Dalton; mother-in-law, Sally Browning, and brother-in-law, Walter Orme.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Jimmy Carter officiating and singers Terry Lucas and Glen Manns. Burial will follow at the Browning Cemetery at Harts.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
