MAN – The Man Middle School girls' softball team cruised to a 10-0, five-inning win over the rival Logan Lady Timberwolves on Thursday at Man.

Taylor Tomblin was the winning pitcher as she scattered five hits, walked three and struck out seven.

Emilee Osborne and Cari Blair led Man with two hits each. Courtney Adkins had one hit and three RBI, while Summer Sword, Tomblin, Stephanie Grimmett and Casey Albright all had one hit.

Logan was led in hitting by Shelby Hale, who had two hits.

The Lady Pioneers got into a jam in the top of the first inning as Logan had back-to-back hits and drew a walk to load the bases. Tomblin, though, settled down as she struck out the next two batters and then got a great defensive play by first baseman Tabitha Ferguson to end the inning.

Man took a 1-0 lead in the last half of the first on a sacrifice fly.

Logan threatened to score in the top of the second as the Lady Wolves loaded the bases again. But the Lady Pioneers got out of the fix with no runs scored.

The Lady Pioneers plated three runs in the second inning.

Two came home on a suicide squeeze bunt by Adkins and the third was scored on an RBI single by Sword.

Man put the game away with a six-run fourth inning.

Man (1-1) was scheduled to play on Saturday at George Washington.

The Lady Pioneers opened the season recently with a 6-5 loss at Madison.

Man was leading 5-1 after five innings before the Lady Redhawks' rally.

Sword had two hits, including a home run, for Man.

Blair also had two hits, while Madison Keffer, Adkins, Grimmett and Albright each had one hit.

Adkins pitched seven innings for the Lady Pioneers and allowed six runs and six hits while striking out six and walking two.
