Shawn Patrick Toomey, 24, of Hurlock, Maryland, was arrested by West Virginia State Police Trooper J.K. Harris on March 27 for possession of a controlled substance.
Toomey was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 2 a.m.
Leifur Helgason, 52, of Maryland, was arrested by Trooper Harris for driving left of center, DUI and defective equipment on March 27. Helgason was booked at the regional jail at 2 a.m.
According to police reports, on March 26, the trooper saw a black Chevy Silverado with Maryland plates traveling north on Route 10.
"A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver (Helgason), who was determined to be driving under the influence," the report states. "The accused was a passenger in the aforementioned vehicle and was instructed to exit the vehicle during which time an officer safety pat down was conducted. During the patdown, this officer felt a hard object in the right front pants pocket of the accused.
"Upon removing the object, this officer discovered a plastic container which contained a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana. The accused admitted the marijuana belonged to him and had been in his pocket for a period of time."
A note on the criminal complaint states "additionally, three hydrocodone pills and an additional bag of marijuana were discovered inside a compartment of the jacket of the accused during booking at the Southwestern Regional Jail."

• Daniel Damon Murphy, 32, of Monaville, was arrested by WVSP Trooper T.L. Toney and two members of the U.S. 119 Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force on March 26 for delivery of a controlled substance.
According to police reports, on July 14, 2008, "the defendant did make a delivery of a controlled substance to a cooperating individual working with members of the U.S. 119 Task Force, by exchanging marijuana for US currency."
A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody and was booked at the regional jail at 4:05 p.m.
