OMAR, W.Va. — Nancy Ellen Burgess, 62, of Omar, departed this life Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston.
Born September 21, 1950, in Chapmanville, she was a daughter of the late William G and Genieve E. Rawlins Blevins. Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Charles, Miles and Clarence Dowdy and William Blevins Jr. and one sister, Mary Carter.
Nancy was self-employed in the merchandising market.
Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, Lawrence E. Burgess; two daughters, Tammy (Brad) Copeland of Chauncey and Jennifer (Lee) Prince of Neibert; one special nephew that she loved like a son, Charles Edward Jacobs; five brothers, Virgil (Joyce) Dowdy and Ray Dowdy, both of North Carolina, Jimmy (David) Blevins of Huntington, and Eddie Dowdy and Tim Blevins, both of Monaville; five sisters, Jackie (John) Ditz of Texas, Cherri Blevins and Theresa (John) Brown, both of Monaville, Priscilla Frye of Peach Creek and Angel (Buck) Isaacs of Lyburn; four grandchildren, Brandon Conley, and Joseph, Jacob and Amanda Copeland, and a host of nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Joaquine Ooten officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brad, Joseph and Jacob Copeland, Lee Prince, Brandon Conley and Jason Shepherd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Blevins, Virgil Dowdy, Charles Jacobs, Ray and Jack Dowdy and William Blevins.
