Five years old — Zachary Ryan Adams, the son of Brian and Missy Brumfield Adams of Big Ugly, celebrated his fifth birthday on September 28, 2008, at home with a Tom and Jerry themed party. Zach is the grandson of Glen and Gail Brumfield of Big Ugly and Milton and Debris Adams of Chapmanville. He is the nephew of Jeff Brumfield of Big Ugly, Timmy Adams of Chapmanville and Crystal and Michael Ball of Lake. He is the cousin to Bethany and Lillian Ball and Aiden and Alexia Adams. He is the great-grandson of Vernard and Fay Lambert of Big Ugly, Opie Snook of Harts, and the late Lucille Brumfield and Theora Powers of Chapmanville. Zach enjoys playing sports and playing with his puppy Lucy.

Two-years-old — Jacob Dylan France, the son of Bill and Norma France of Rivers Edge Drive at Chapmanville celebrated his second birthday on Monday, March 23, 2009. Jacob celebrated with a party at his grandparent’s house, Freddie and Jackie France, at Mud Fork, with the party theme of "The Big Adventure." He received a wooden Gorilla swing set for his yard and various other gifts. Jacob is also the grandson of the late John and Ilene Southers of Holden.

Sisters celebrate birthdays — Bethany and Lillian Ball, the daughters of Michael and Crystal Brumfield Ball of Lake, celebrated birthdays. Bethany celebrated her 10th birthday on December 22, 2008, and Lillian celebrated her fourth birthday on February 12, 2009. They are the granddaughters of Glen and Gail Brumfield of Big Ugly and Roger and Sandy Ball of Lake. They are the nieces of Brian and Missy Adams and Jeff Brumfield of Big Ugly and Daniel and Regina Pritchard of Lake, and cousins of Zach Adams, Brandon and Chelcie Pritchard. The girls are the great-granddaughters of Vernard and Fay Lambert of Big Ugly and Opie Snook of Harts, the late Lucille Brumfield of Harts, Robert Seay of Pecks Mill, the late Lillian Seay and Othor and Nona Ball of Lake. Bethany attends East Chapmanville Grade School and enjoys sports. Lillian enjoys playing with her puppy Chloe and pretending to cook.

Couple to wed April 25 — Jacob and Seth Osborne, along with Tabitha Maynor and Tiffany, Tiara and Lara Owens, would like to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their parents, Jason Osborne and Violet Owens. Violet is the daughter of the late Lindsey and Anna Mae Whited of Accoville. She is the paternal granddaughter of Anna Whited of Hanover and the late Lindsey Whited Sr. and the maternal granddaughter of Joe Griffin of Ohio and the late Violet Griffin. Violet resides at Cook’s Addition with her daughters. Jason is the son of James and Vickie Osborne of Lorado. He is the paternal grandson of Howard and Ida Osborne of Amherstdale and the maternal grandson of the late Opie and Elsie Bailey of Lorado. Jason served 14 years with the United States Navy and resides at Latrobe with his two sons. Jason and Violet are members of the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church. Wedding vows will be exchanged at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Canterbury performing the ceremony. The gracious custom of an open ceremony will be observed. A reception will be held in the church kitchen following the ceremony.

Introducing — Dr. and Mrs. Todd Berry, the former Angie Brumfield, of Cross Lanes, are thrilled to announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, Elisabeth Grace. Elisabeth Grace was born at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston. She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and measured 21 inches in length. She is the beloved granddaughter of Charlie and Pam Brumfield of Justice Addition and Phil and Joann Berry of Summersville. Elisabeth is the great-granddaughter of Evelyn Brumfield of Whitman and Verna Mae Wiseman of Weston.

Couple plans June wedding — Mr. and Mrs. William Aldridge Jr. of Man are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Elisabeth Ann, to Dr. Jon Michael Miller. Dr. Miller is the son of Mrs. Peggy Miller of Williamsburg, Va., and the late Bill Miller. The couple is planning a June ceremony.

Introducing — Kayla Turner and Wade Scaggs would like to introduce their daughter, Layla Kay Scaggs. Layla was born December 19, 2008, at Logan Regional Hospital. Her paternal grandparents are the late Larry and Glenda Scaggs of Logan and her maternal grandparents are David Turner of North Mitchell Heights and Judy Kay Turner of Switzer. Layla also has several aunts and uncles who love her very much.
