A local man was arrested and charged with malicious wounding this week by the West Virginia State Police after the victim of a reported domestic violence incident was hospitalized.

Walter Webster Elmore II, 26, of Cora, was arrested in Logan by WVSP Trooper J.K. Harris for malicious wounding, domestic battery and domestic assault on April 13.

According to law enforcement reports, on April 12, Elmore allegedly "did commit malicious wounding, domestic assault and domestic battery when he threatened to kill the victim, his girlfriend."

"Additionally, the accused did choke the victim with his hands as well as strike and kick her multiple times," the report states. "During the altercation, the accused struck the victim causing her to lose consciousness and EMS personnel responded. As a result of the actions of the accused, the victim is currently being treated in the Logan Regional Medical Center Critical Care Unit.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 3 p.m.

It was one of many domestic violence arrests in recent weeks.

• Shaun Delane Elmore, 29, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the Logan County Sheriff's Department for domestic battery, 21 counts on April 14. He was booked at the regional jail at 5:20 p.m.

• Dennis Lane Osborne, 39, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the WVSP for domestic assault and domestic battery on April 14. He was booked at the regional jail at 3:50 a.m.

• Gregory Scott Runion, 26, residence not listed, was arrested in Boone County for domestic assault and brandishing a weapon on April 11. He was booked at the regional jail at 8 p.m.

• Randall Scott Whitt, 31, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the West Virginia State Police for domestic assault, domestic battery and destruction of property on April 7. He was booked at the regional jail at 7:55 a.m.

• James Michael Green, 48, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the West Virginia State Police for domestic assault and domestic battery on April 6. He was booked the regional jail at 4:30 a.m.

• Christy Lynn Gaikowski, 34, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the West Virginia State Police for domestic battery and domestic assault on April 5. She was booked the regional jail at 12:55 a.m.

• Roscoe Sloan, 40, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the Logan Police Department for domestic battery on March 31. He was booked the regional jail at 1:34 a.m.

• Ernesta Gail Damron, 32, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the Logan Police Department for domestic battery on March 31. She was booked the regional jail at 1:23 a.m.

• Michael David Adkins, 38, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for domestic battery and domestic assault on March 30. He was booked at the regional jail at 11 p.m.

• Jarika Xzambria Bryant, 27, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for domestic battery and domestic assault on March 30. She was booked the regional jail at 11 p.m.
