CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Jessie A. Gore Burns, 78, of Chesapeake, Va., was born May 1, 1930, a daughter of the late Howard and Grace Gore of Logan. She was called to heaven on October I9, 2008. Also waiting for her in heaven were her brothers and sisters, Johnny Gore, Tenis Gore, Charles Gore, Clifford Gore, Howard Gore, Leola Woods (Jimmy), Virginia White Garrett, Belvie Sennet, and her neice who was also her best friend, Deloris White Hutchison.

Jessie loved to cook her big family dinners and have everyone over. She was a wonderful mother that loved her children and grandchildren. She lived the last 35 years of her life in Virginia, but her heart always longed for the mountains. She would always say “You can take the girl out of the mountains, but you can’t take the mountains out of the girl.” Momma, you are back home now, rest in peace.

Those left behind who love and will miss her are her children, John Muncey, Susan Stokley, Karen Lynch, Angelia Breeland, Terry Walls and Charles Burns. She will be watching over her 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
