MADISON – The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ softball team made it a sweep over Scott with Thursday night’s 7-1 win over the sectional foe Lady Hawks in a makeup game.

Chapmanville, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class AA, improved to 20-1 on the season with the win.

The Lady Tigers had beaten Scott 12-2 on Monday night at home and also owned a 7-0 victory over the Lady Hawks earlier in the season at the Best of the Best Tournament at Buffalo.

Chapmanville bounced back from Monday night’s 1-0 loss to rival Logan in the second game of the home twinbill.

Andi Williamson was the Lady Tigers’ starting pitcher but only tossed two innings after giving up a run in the bottom of the first. Freshman Allison Evans then hurled the last five innings and gave up one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.

Evans and Lauren McCann led Chapmanville at the plate as both were 3-for-4. One of the hits by Evans was a triple.

Williamson was 2-for-4 with a double. Jenna Evans was also 2-for-4, while Poppy Ramey, Beth Baldwin and Lauren Shumate all added hits. The Lady Tigers return to action today at home against Sissonville. Game time is 5:30 p.m. CRHS then hosts No. 2 Point Pleasant on Saturday at noon.
