COAL MOUNTAIN, W.Va. — Hazel Marie Morgan, 86, of Coal Mountain, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, April 25, 2009, from her residence.

Born August 11, 1922, at Verner, she was a daughter of the late Addie Carter Browning and Lee Walls.

Also preceding her in death was her loving husband of 39 years, Gussie Morgan; grandparents, Spicie and Pern Carter and Joseph and Lovinne Walls; stepfather, Joe Browning; three brothers, Donald and Rondel “Ripple” Browning and Ardell Walls; two sisters, Betty Woolum and Opal Lester; two sons-in-law, Berthel Kenneda and Roy C. West, and her son’s fiancé, Joanne McEneany.

Hazel was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She worked in Elkton, Md., in 1944 as a factory worker rubbing ammunition bullets. She was a member of “The Fun Bunch” bowling league starting in 1989, the Senior Citizens; on the Board of Directors Council; while serving as a Senator for the Silver Haired Legislation she helped pass the Lemon Law, the Grandparents Rights and the Work Release Programs. She was a member of the 1982 GED graduating class and a member of the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to love and cherish her memory include three sons, Roger D. Morgan and Robert D. (Christine) Morgan, both of Coal Mountain and Rodney “Smokie” Morgan of Rochester, N.Y.; two daughters, Deanna C. West of Locust Grove, Va., and Lana C. Kenneda of Coal Mountain; two stepsons, Gussie Gene “Buddy” Morgan of Logan and Donzal L. (Joyce) Morgan of Vineland, N.J.; three sisters, Wanda Brooks of Brenton, Linda (Paul) Estrella of Las Vegas, Nev., and Florence Cline of Charleston; seven brothers, Wandle “Buzz” (Ruth) Browning of Central, S.C., Danny (Nila) Browing of Vinton, Ohio, Rev. Lowell Walls of Verner, Arley Walls of Oceana, Jimmy Walls of Prosperity, Danny Walls of Cyclone and Darrell Walls of Lynco; daughter-in-law, Janice Morgan of Man; three sisters-in-law, Veatrice Staton of Matheny, Freda Steiner of Verner and Ruby Morgan of Cleveland, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other dear family and friends.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Louis Collings, Rev. Ravin Kenneda and Rev. James Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m.-midnight Wednesday at the church where special services will begin at 7 p.m.

Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge of the arrangements.
