The Lady Tigers beat Hoover 5-3 and 7-0 at the Chapmanville Softball Complex to improve to 22-3 overall and 7-2 in the Cardinal Conference.
No. 1-ranked Chapmanville had previously lost its last two and three out of its last four contests. The Lady Tigers were upset 1-0 at home last Friday by Sissonville, then lost 3-1 on Saturday at home to No. 2 Point Pleasant.
Freshman Allison Evans pitched the win in Monday's opener as she went all seven innings and allowed three runs and five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.
Beth Baldwin was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Lady Tigers. Jenna Evans was 2-for-4. Danielle Brewster, Bre Thomas, Poppy Ramey and Andi Williamson all had one hit each.
In the nightcap, Jenna Evans pitched the shutout win. She hurled seven innings and gave up just two hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Allison Evans led the Lady Tiger offense as she was 3-for-3 at the plate. Ramey was 2-for-4, while Jenna Evans, Tiffini Hale and Lauren McCann all added one hit each.
Chapmanville coach Ronnie Ooten said all-state pitcher Williamson will officially sign with the University of Tennessee on Friday at 1 p.m. at CRHS.
Ooten also said that senior catcher Ramey will sign sometime next week with West Virginia State University.
"They are both well deserving of that," Ooten said of his pitcher-catcher battery who will play at the collegiate level. "Poppy has made a verbal commitment with West Virginia State and will sign with them sometime next week."
Williamson and Ramey will be honored with the rest of Chapmanville's senior players on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. during the Lady Tigers' Senior Night contest with Westside.
Logan 10, Scott 0
MADISON – The Logan High School Lady Cats improved to 19-5 on the season with Monday's 10-0 win at former Double-A sectional rival Scott.
Logan (19-5) got a combined two-hit shutout from Ali Neace and Taylor Norman.
Neace started and went three innings, allowing two hits and one walk with six strikeouts. Norman hurled two innings and fanned two.
Norman and Morgan Aguirre were both 2-for-3 at the plate. Hannah Vinson went 2-for-4.
Leonnah Browning was 1-for-4 with two RBI. Katie Chryssofos went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Erica Kelley added a hit and Kristian Chryssofos added an RBI.
The Lady Cats return to action tonight at home in a 5:30 p.m. makeup game against Herbert Hoover. Logan hosts 3A sectional foe George Washington on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Logan then hosts Riverside on Thursday night and plays at Nicholas County on Friday night.
