CROWN, W.Va. — Howard Henry Copley, 67, of Crown, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 28, 2009, from his home after a short illness.

Born January 25, 1942, at Accoville, he was a son of the late Blaine and Chattie Moore Copley. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Irene Sugg and Lorine Tackett; two brothers, Tennis and Andrew “Dutter” Copley; three nephews, Blaine Sugg, Blaine “Bub” Copley III and Don “Rizzle” Bragg, and one brother-in-law, Joe Bragg.

Howard was a disabled coal miner with 31 years of service, 28 years of which he was employed with Pittston Coal Company. He was a member of the UMWA local 8454 and was of the Baptist faith. An outstanding family man, Howard loved to fish and hunt. He was a great friend to many people.

Those left to miss him include his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara Ann Bragg Copley; four sons, Greg (Shawn) Copley of McConnell, and Lawrence Copley, Keith Copley, and Joey Copley, all of Crown; a very close grandson, Billy Copley of Crown; a special daughter-in-law, Delorice Bragg of Man; seven other grandchildren, Katie Copley of McConnell, Emily Copley of Switzer, Ricky Copley of Man, Jade Looney of Crown, Kira Williams and Brett Williams, both of Lundale, and Joseph Adkins of Robinette; two sisters, Beulah (Alfred) Doty of Kistler and Eudora Adkins of Conway, S.C.; four brothers, Ralph (Doris) Copley of Detroit, Mich., Rev. Frank (Lila) Copley of Claypool, Lawrence “Tom” (Ruth) Copley of Robinette and Blaine (Alice) Copley Jr. of Crown and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church at Man with Rev. David Campbell and Rev. Bennie Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Pallbearers will be his four sons, grandson Billy, and brother-in-law, Robert.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
