Turner-Rockel plan August wedding — Ashley N. Turner and Jeffrey M. Rockel, along with their families, would like to announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage. Ashley is the daughter of Timothy and Vicki Turner of Jeffrey. She is a 2002 graduate of Scott High School and a 2007 Graduate of Marshall University. She is currently employed with Logan Regional Medical Center. Jeffrey is the son of Jeana Rockel of Chapmanville. He is a 2001 graduate of Chapmanville High School and is currently employed by Massey Energy. The couple will exchange vows with family and friends on August 29, 2009, at the Chief Logan Conference Center.

Redmond-O’Neal to wed Saturday — Jennifer Marie Redmond and Lucas Patrick O’Neal will be united in marriage Saturday, May 9, at 3:30 pm. The ceremony will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan with Father William Matheny of St. John’s University Parish in Morgantown officiating. A reception will follow at the Chief Logan Conference Center. Jennifer is the daughter or Marie and Randy Redmond of Holden. She is the granddaughter of the late Bernard and Natalina Codispoti of Holden and the late Estil and Gladys Redmond of San Mateo, Fla., formerly on Man. Jennifer is a 2003 valedictorian of Logan High School. She graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology in 2007 and is pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at WVU. She will graduate in May of 2010. Lucas is the son of Lloyd O’Neal of East Bank and Cheri Edmonds of Parkersburg. He is the grandson of James and Rita O’Neal of Winifrede and Betty and Larry Wigal of Parkersburg. Lucas is a 2001 graduate of Riverside High School. Couple to wed May 16 — Butch and Jana Dudding of Logan, together with Dwight and Nikki Preece of Chapmanville, are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Stephanie Ann Preece to Derick Reed Staats of Knoxville, Tenn. The bride-elect is a 1998 graduate of Logan High School and a graduate of Tusculum College with a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Management. Stephanie is employed as Assistant Vice President with The Community Bank of East Tennessee. She is the granddaughter of Mona and the late James Miller of Pecks Mill, and the late Henry and Frances Preece of Delbarton. The prospective groom is the son of Robert and Patricia Staats of Seymour, Tenn., and the grandson of Nina and the late Walter Flynn of Sevierville, Tenn., and the late Leonard and Thelma Staats of Steubenville, Ohio. Derick is a 1997 graduate of Sevier County High School and is employed as Store Director with J. Crew Factory Division. A wedding ceremony is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Central United Baptist Church with Rev. Barney Goins officiating. The gracious custom of open church will be observed.

Two years old — Ava Lynn Baldridge celebrated her second birthday Tuesday, April 26. She is the daughter of George and Dreama Baldridge and a big sister to Noah Baldridge She is also the granddaughter of Linda Baldridge of Crown, Edna Ruth Pierson of Accoville, and the late Harvey Pierson.
