Born March 12, 1930, at Phelps Ky., he was a son of the late Humphrey and Lula Ferrell. Also preceding him in death were two sons, Jackie O. Ferrell Jr. and Kenneth R. “Ricky” Ferrell Sr.; great-grandparents, Elijah and Augusta Ferrell and Burl and Cora Trent; a grandson, Kenneth O. “Charlie” Ferguson Jr.; two brothers, Ronnie Gene and Harry Ferrell; two sisters, Linda and Zell Ferrell; mother and father-in-law, Bruce and Lona Perry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rondle Browning, Arlie Runyon, Glen Gwynn, Hobert Hatfield, Roy, Ray, Troy, Bruce Jr., and Hubert Perry, Marie Wilson and Claudia Elkins.
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle and friend. He was a disabled coal miner and of the Baptist faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years, Eurydice Perry Ferrell of Hampden; two sons, Ireland Bruce (Barva) Ferrell of Gilbert and Jeffrey B. Ferrell of Hampden; five daughters, Kathy (Larry) Watson and Pam (Billy) Hatfield, both of Gilbert, Deborah Hatfield of Hanover, Sharon (Donald) Ferguson of Hampden, and Sheila Ferrell of Chiefland, Fla.; two grandsons, Kenneth R. (Bonnie) Ferrell Jr. of Gilbert and Kirk Cline of Baisden; four granddaughters, Candace Ferrell of Baisden, Brianna Ferrell and Marietta (Jason) Runyon, both of Hampden, and Charlotte Ferguson of Oceana; five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Humphrey Lee Ferrell of Waveland, Miss., James D. Ferrell of Birch River and David (Betty) Ferrell and Danny (Sherry) Ferrell, both of High Point, N.C.; five sisters, Lena Mae Runyon of Verner, Joyce Browning of Davin, Kitty Lee of Flat Top, Margie (Ray) Brown of Parkersburg, and Carol Sue Hatfield of High Point, N.C., and a host of other very special family and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 4, at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer at Hampden with the Rev. Ronnie Lester and the Rev. Diamond Carter officiating. Singing will be provided by Dwayne Walls. Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery at Sharon Heights at Hampden.
Pallbearers will be Michael Grimmett, Michael Francis, Jonathan Ferrell, Jimmy Ferrell Jr., Terry Perry and Jeremy Perry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Lowe, Rocky Kennedy, Joe Bragg, Larkin Harrison, Lemuel “Doc” Grimmett, Johnny Adams and Carl Stacy.
