Lady Billies (15-0), Lady Cats (24-5) close out regular season with wins

The Man and Logan high school girls’ softball teams closed out the regular season with wins on Monday.

The Lady Billies closed out with an unbeaten 15-0 record after blanking Wyoming East, 4-0, at home.

Logan improved to 24-5 on the season with a 7-0 win over Sherman at home.

Marlena Frye tossed a two-hit shutout for Man and helped her own cause with a two-run homer.

Malorie Vance added a double, while Kaitlan Chapman, Loren Whited, Mercedes Sharp and Tabby Johnston all added one hit each.

The Lady Billies have now won 33 games in a row dating back to last season.

Man plays Van and Gilbert in the Class A sectional tourney on Wednesday and Thursday. In the Logan-Sherman game, Ali Neace pitched the win for the Lady Cats, firing seven innings and allowing six hits while striking out 10.

Hannah Vinson was 2-for-3 with three RBI and a double.

Jessica Bias went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Katie Chryssofos ripped a solo homer.

Kristian Chryssofos had a single and an RBI.

Neace added a double.

Logan battles with South Charleston and George Washington later this week in the 3A sectional tourney at South Charleston High School.

BASEBALL- Chapmanville 5, Tug Valley 0

CHAPMANVILLE – The Chapmanville Regional High School baseball team improved to 14-12 on the season with Monday night’s 5-0 win at Ted Ellis Field over Tug Valley.

The Tigers swept the season series with the Panthers, also winning 10-3 on April 16 at Naugatuck.

Jordan Banks pitched the complete game win for Chapmanville, hurling seven innings and striking out 13 while walking one.

Josh Easterling was 3-for-3 with two doubles.

Craig Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Zac Gresham was 2-for-3 with a double.

Banks helped his cause with a two-run homer.

Jordan Kirk added a double and Cliff Hall had a single.

Chapmanville split a doubleheader last Friday night at home against Belfry, Ky., losing 6-2 in the first game and winning 12-0 in the nightcap.

The Tigers are set to host Logan tonight at 7 p.m.
