The Aracoma Story Inc. not only offers area residents a chance to see first-rate outdoor productions, but it also gives locals a chance to get onstage and perform. So many adults, teens, children and families have taken part over the years. But every year is a new challenge. Getting enough people to do these shows can be tricky. Director Bill France has issued challenges this year to local civic clubs to help boost the numbers. He has taken his recruitment campaign to the internet and into area schools. Students can use their time onstage for community service hours needed toward graduation.
We want to make sure these shows continue to be a part of our region. So many tourists travel to Chief Logan State Park during the summer to watch these shows. It's up to us to make sure that we leave them with a positive impression. Statistics show that kids that are exposed to arts, theater and music do better in school and have better social skills. So this week on Thursday (3-6 p.m.), Friday (5-9 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m.-6 p.m.). Do yourself and your family a favor, head to Logan High School and audition for either or both shows. There are parts for men, women, teens, children, adults, seniors and even a couple parts of infants.
Help us spread the word. If not you, tell your kids, your family, your neighbors, your classmates to come be a part of another fun-filled summer!
