The heavily-favored and No. 1-ranked Lady Billies cruised to a 13-0 win at home over Van on Friday night.
Man and Van were scheduled to play a second game on Friday night in the double-elimination tourney but the contest was called off due to heavy rain.
Man (17-0) and Van are slated to play on Monday at 5:30 p.m. A victory by the Lady Billies would move Man into Thursday’s Class A regional semifinals, which would also be played at Man.
Man rolled to a 23-0 victory over Gilbert on Thursday in the first game of the sectional tourney. Van then beat Gilbert later in the evening to eliminate the Lady Lions.
Friday night’s win was the 35th straight victory for the Lady Billies dating back to last season. Man is the defending Class A state champs.
All-state junior pitcher Marlena Frye notched another no-hitter on Friday against the Lady Bulldogs as she struck out 11 and walked one in the four-inning game.
Man pounded out 14 hits, led by Paige Stacy who went 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and three RBI.
Frye went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Kaitlan Chapman was 2-for-4 at the plate. Mercedes Sharp was 2-for-2.
Tabby Johnston and Loren Whited were both 1-for-2 with two RBI. Jacyln Dickerson was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Malorie Vance went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Malorie Keffer also had a hit for Man.
