PIE — A small car crashed late Sunday night due to flood debris blocking U.S. Route 52 in front of the Pie Church of God.

The young girl, whose identity was not available to The Logan Banner at press time this morning, was shaken up in the single-vehicle crash, but was did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

The road is blocked in front of the Marcum Cemetery where a mountain slide covered the graveyard in mud, rocks and debris when flash flooding hit early Saturday morning.

The car reportedly hit the mudslide and went airborne, traveling several feet before landing in the muck. The girl was attended to by Dr. Scott Akers, a Matewan High graduate and Pikeville, Ky., physician, who was in the area visiting his family.
