• Amber Rose Jeffery, 22, of Accoville, was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. W.D. Walls and Patrolman A.P. Williams of the Man Police Department for petit larceny and obstructing an officer on May 5.
According to police reports the officers were on patrol when a Be On Look Out (BOLO) alert about a red Pontiac occupied by a man and woman was traveling through the area. Reportedly the passenger in the vehicle had stolen a purple purse with a digital camera inside and threatened the victims.
"The BOLO also advised possible drug activity," the report states. "While on patrol the red Pontiac...crossed the center line and a traffic stop was initiated. Unit No. Four (Dennis Brown) of the Logan County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the drivers' location. Consent to search was given by the driver....Upon searching the vehicle the purple purse was found. The accused stated she had bought the purse at a yard sale in Charleston. .... (A victim) showed up at the scene and the accused stated that she had snatched the purse from .....(another victim). A search of the area fond the camera lying next to the cruiser behind the guardrail on the road on Route 10, Southbound on the four lane. After placing the accused under arrest, she stated that she was going to kill herself when she got out of jail. ...The accused's juvenile daughter was in the vehicle. Child Protective Services was contacted and gave temporary custody to her mother...for the night."
She was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 10:36 p.m.
• Tabitha Lynn Meade, 18, of Whitman, was arrested in Logan County by Deputy N.M. Booth of the Logan County Sheriff's Department for computer fraud (two counts), forgery (two counts) and obtaining goods by false pretenses on May 1. According to police reports around April 24, Tabitha Meade was working at a local restaurant when she allegedly waited on the table of the victim and "rang her up at approximately 10:09 p.m. by swiping her card for the amount of $31.75 of US currency with $5 of US currency for a tip."
"At approximately 10:10 p.m. she rang the victim up again by manually entering the card number for the amount of $13.76 f US Currency with a tip amount of $10.00 of US currency, which was a fraudulent charge," the report states. "At approximately 10:11 p.m. she rang up the victim again by manually entering her credit card number for $18.00 of US currency with a $10.00 tip, which was also a fraudulent charge on the card. The defendant also signed the victim's name on both of the fraudulent slips. The total amount of fraudulent charges was $51.76 of US Currency."
A warrant was issued for her arrest and she was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 6:31 p.m.
•Brittany Lynn Miller, 22, of West Logan, was arrested in Logan County by officers J.L. Sheppard and Artie Willis of the Logan Police Department for shoplifting (third degree) on April 27. According to police reports the patrolmen responded to a shoplifting call from Walmart.
"When arriving on the scene, these officers spoke with members of Walmart Loss Prevention," the report states. "They stated that the above defendant did conceal merchandise in her purse and walked out of the store without paying for them. The items taken amounted to $25.00. Upon further investigation, these officers found that the defendant had two prior convictions for shoplifting on Jan. 9. 2007 and June 17, 2006. (Under West Virginia law, the third arrest for shoplifting becomes a felony, punishable by over one year in jail.)
She was booked at the regional jail at 7 p.m.
