DANVILLE -- Two Man teens escaped serious injury when another driver T-boned their vehicle near Danville in Boone County early Sunday morning.

Kaitlan Chapman and Tabitha Johnston, both 18 years old and Man High School softball players, were northbound on Corridor G on their way to a lifeguard class in Chapman's Ford Mustang when a white Toyota Corolla pulled out at the intersection of Low Gap Road and U.S. Route 119 and slammed the Mustang in the passenger side, knocking the Mustang into the southbound lanes of U.S. 119.

Johnston told police “She just pulled out and hit us.”

Chapman was the driver of the Mustang.

Debris was left on the highway and traffic was snarled in the northbound lanes briefly.

The crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. and West Virginia State Police Trooper L.J. McClung and other troopers from the Danville detachment of the WVSP, along with Boone County Sheriff's deputies, responded to the scene.

The Boone County Ambulance Service checked out both Chapman and Johnston. Neither suffered any serious injury.

The identity of the other driver was not known at press time. It was also not known if she suffered any severe injury. The driver of the Corolla was sitting up in her car and talking on her cell phone and to people gathered at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota did appear to have blood on her face as a result of the crash.

It was also not known if there were any passengers in the Toyota car at the time of the crash.

Both vehicles suffered extensive damage.

The Danville Fire Department also responded to the crash.

Chapman and Johnston are scheduled to play with the Man Lady Billies softball team in the Class A state softball tournament in Vienna on Wednesday.

The Lady Billies are unbeaten this season and heavily favored to win the state title.

A call was placed by The Logan Banner to the Danville detachment of the West Virginia State Police, but investigating officers were not available this morning to give a statement on the crash. The Logan Banner also called the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, but the secretary in records was not available to give the police report.
