Verdunville Elementary School, an Exemplary School 2007-2008 & 2008-2009, in partnership with Walmart of Logan celebrated Earth Day, Tuesday, April 28, 2009. The event took place on the grounds of Verdunville Elementary.

Walmart Manager Dwight Neal, along several of his employees, went to Verdunville Elementary and spent the day with the students and staff. The employees planted flowers, put up park benches and a birdbath, mulched around trees, completely refurbished the flag pole stand/area, and filled several large flower pots all in order to beautify the school grounds. The students helped with the planting and mulching. Everyone worked very hard and the results were fantastic.

Verdunville challenged Walmart to a game of volleyball. The "Verdunville Mustangs versus the Walmart Warriors." Verdunville came out on top and won the game. Next year The Verdunville Mustangs hope to challenge The Walmart Warriors again and allow them to redeem themselves.

Walmart staff enjoyed a "Green Lunch" with the students. Cooks Judy Conley and Ilean Meade prepared Earth Day foods for everyone.

All participants received certificates of appreciation from Verdunville staff and students.

Walmart participants included Dwight Neal, Manager, John Lahoda, Jeff Fleming, Nancy Harrah, Tina Robinette, Angie Nelson, Nick Orso, Sandy Toppings, Katrina Workman and Ladonna Goodman.

Verdunville Elementary is very appreciative to Walmart for coming to celebrate Earth Day and for all the wonderful improvements they made to their playground and campus.
