If you need proof that our local gasoline stations and gas wholesalers are gouging us at the pumps, all you need to do is take a drive through Logan County, starting in Chapmanville, where gas is currently priced at $2.75 for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline. Then, come on down U.S. Route 119 and take the Logan exit and come into the city of Logan, where gas is currently priced at $2.49 a gallon.

That’s a 26 cent difference!

On Monday, gas in the city of Logan was priced at $2.40 a gallon, while it remained at $2.65 a gallon in Chapmanville and many other gas stations throughout the county.

Just two days later, gas skyrocketed to $2.75 a gallon throughout the county, while it jumped to just $2.49 in the city of Logan and down Route 10 through Aracoma, West Logan and Henlawson.

If these gas stations can make a profit from gas priced at $2.49 a gallon, then surely all the other stations can, too.

And it’s not just this way in Logan County. Other counties’ gas stations followed suit and changed the price of their gas, hiking it to $2.72 and $2.75.

These price hikes have happened in Logan, Mingo, Boone and Kanawha counties. In Matewan, yesterday, gas was still priced at $2.59 a gallon, which only goes to prove that we, in Logan County, are being bilked of our hard-earned cash by these greedy gas dealers.

So, if you need proof of gasoline price gouging going on throughout southern West Virginia, you need look no farther than Logan County!

The American way is to take advantage of the population when times are tough. Just take a look at how food, lodging, etc goes up during a natural disaster. Or, even when a big playoff in sports is taking place. Room prices go up, menus get more expensive, etc. It is the American way to price gouge and take advantage.
