CHIEF LOGAN STATE PARK — Cast members of the upcoming production of Willy Wonka will be flying to new heights… literally! The Aracoma Story, Inc.’s production of Willy Wonka will open next Tuesday night, June 16th, at Chief Logan State Park and is expected to be filled with fun and excitement. Characters in the show will fly about the stage as they sing, dance and tell the timeless story of Charlie Bucket and the mysterious candy maker, Willy Wonka.

ZFX Flight of Huntington Beach, Calif., was contracted by The Aracoma Story Inc. to coordinate the installation of equipment and training of flight technicians to fly characters during the show. A current ZFX Press Release states that “ZFX is a world-class provider of flying effects with extensive experience in the event industry and on Broadway. ZFX collaborates with clients to create safe and awe-inspiring flying effects for audiences around the world.

Famed for their creativity and choreography, ZFX is also a technical powerhouse designing and manufacturing all of their own equipment, harnesses and software in-house. With a reputation for enthusiasm, teamwork and artistic integrity, ZFX sets the industry standard for flying effects.”

“ZFX is known around the world for their work with Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, High School Musical and Willy Wonka to name a few shows” says The Aracoma Story, Inc. President, Jim Frye. “Just to see the look on the audience’s faces when the characters take flight will be worth all the work it has taken to bring this show to our stage.”

The Aracoma Story Inc. purchased a truss system when they produced Peter Pan some years back. That truss system is now being used to support the flying equipment for Willy Wonka. However, flight comes with a price tag.

“We are fortunate to have so much support from our local businesses and the people of our community. That support helped us purchase the truss system and now it has made it possible for us to bring flight to our production of Willy Wonka. We truly appreciate the private contributions that have made it possible!” says Frye.

Show dates for Willy Wonka are June 16-20, 23-27, 30 and July 1-5. All performances are at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheatre in Chief Logan State Park and begin at 8:30 p.m. nightly. Advance ticket discounts are available at Necessary Things in Logan, Pic-Pac in Man and Aracoma Drug in Chapmanville or by calling The Aracoma Story, Inc. office at (304) 752-0253. Group discounted tickets can be purchased by phone through The Aracoma Story Inc. using Visa/MasterCard or check.
