All over Logan County we see ballparks and athletics facilities like no other county in the state. The Logan County Commission works tirelessly to provide our youth with the best recreation facilities.
The county commission and Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin, have been instrumental in getting the rec center built here.
It's something our residents need.
No offense meant, but many of the coalfield residents are out of shape and a recreation center where they can exercise, play basketball and tennis and swim, can only help improve our health here.
Logan County Commission President Art Kirkendoll said he wants the rec center to be open to everyone in Logan County, no matter the person's income. He said he doesn't want the rec center to become a country club and we applaud him for that.
Kirkendoll wants the center to be used by every Logan County resident — and residents of Mingo and Boone County — because he wants people throughout the coalfields to live healthier lives.
The rec center is a great addition to our already great county. We are proud that such a facility has been built here and we hope everyone will put it to good use.
The Chief Logan State Park Recreation Center is a great start to improving the overall health and well being for the people of the coalfield region.
