Several charges are set to be filed against the driver in a car crash that resulted in a Lake man’s death.
Logan Police Chief E.K. Harper said this morning that Paul Jenkins of Logan will be charged today with driving under the influence causing death, DUI causing injury, reckless driving, no insurance and failure to maintain control of a vehicle in the July 1 crash that resulted in the death of Jason Ray Ball, 25, of Lake.
Ball died Sunday at Charleston Area Medical Center General Division from injuries suffered in the crash.
Harper said Ball had to be flown to Charleston Area Medical Center after he was severely injured when the car he was riding in left the road and crashed through a car wash just inside the city limits on State Route 10 near Aracoma.
Logan Police Chief E.K. Harper said a white, 1996 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Jenkins was travelling southbound on old Route 10 at a high rate of speed when it left the road, crossed the northbound side and hit the car wash. Harper said Ball had to be revived three times after reaching the hospital.
Another passenger, Amy Selvey, also of Logan, was injured in the crash and transported to Logan Regional Medical Center. No update on her condition was available at press time. Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of Ball’s funeral arrangements.
