OMAR — Rev. Press Vance was honored again on June 28 when members of the Omar Area Crime Watch presented him with an Omar Area Historical Throw at the New Life Freewill Baptist Church.

Vance has been a vital part of the Route 44 community for many decades and the group wished to show its respects to Vance, said members.

The throw features scenes of life along Route 44 including the old Omar Junior High School, Devil Anse Hatfield, Omar Jr. Mercantile, Stirrat Mercantile, the Omar theatre, the old Club House in Omar, the Omar YMCA, the stables at Pine Creek, No. 4 mine, No. 5 mines, the Old Devil Anse Hatfield Home and Rev. Vance himself.

The throws are available as a fundraising project for $50 each with shipping available for $7.
