To help the flood victims of Mingo County, the Bruno Church of God Boy Scouts of America Troop 584 and the Be All That You Can Be Cub Scout Pack 580 of Man worked side by side with the Salvation Army and the National Guard during the month of May at the Larry Joe Harless Center.

Together they helped to unload the freight trucks which brought in supplies that were so desperately needed for the severely flooded area. They helped to unload the big trucks, carried the stock inside the building, helped the victims to collect the items they were issued, then wheeled them to their autos and finally helped them to load their vehicles.

They also took cleaning supplies, clothing items, and meals to those who could not come to the center for pick ups. Together they worked countless hours, helping the victims of the Gilbert area to get the items they needed to start the clean up process. Pack 580 went out daily to collect food from the local businesses to feed the volunteer workers who sometimes worked 10 to 12 hours a day assisting the needy flood victims.

The Boy Scouts earned their Good Turn for America patch and the year 2009 award to go with it for their help in the project.
