Several accused of dealing drugs

Area police have made multiple arrests on charges of drug dealing recently and some incarcerated suspects were from out of state.

The West Virginia State Police recently recovered a large amount of drugs and a handgun as part of the arrests.

• Clarence Earl Hardwick II, 32, of Detroit, Mi., was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. J.B. Frye of the WVSP for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit a felony on July 18. He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 10:02 p.m.

• McClearry Dean Hill, 22, of Detroit, was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. Frye for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy charges on July 18. He was booked at the regional jail at 9:12 p.m.

• LaShaun Massey, 30, of Detroit, was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. Frye for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy charges on July 18. He was booked at the regional jail at 9:12 p.m.

According to police reports, on July 18, Sgt. Frye went to a local residence as part of a forgery investigation. The officer allegedly saw Massey and Hardwick on the front porch of the home with two residents.

"Massey ignored this officer's commands and ran into the residence," the report states. "The undersigned officer gave chase and located Massey and McClearry Hill in the far bedroom of the residence. The undersigned officer then located (the resident) in the front bedroom of the residence. (Hill) stated that he ran because he had marijuana n his possession, in which he hid inside his jacket pocket inside the residence.”

Sgt. Frye, along with Corporal G.W. Collins, Trooper P.J. Dick and Trooper J.K. Harris then allegedly found 54 hydrocodone tablets in the bedroom of the home.

The officers also allegedly located 95 OxyContin 80mg tablets and 36 OxyContin 40mg on the ground, outside the back bedroom widow where Massey and Hill were located. The officers then allegedly located a small plastic bag of white powder believed to be cocaine in the bathroom cabinet of the residence.

“Through further investigation, this officer obtained information that Massey Hardwick and Hill were selling OxyContin out of the residence,” the report said. The three accused also allegedly had $45,658 with them.

In other arrests:

• Tammy Diana Copley, 49, of Amherstdale, was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. B.G. Guthrie and Trooper J.D. Hensley of the WVSP for possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy on July 17. She was booked at the regional jail at 1:05 a.m.

• Mark Allen Copley, 49 of Amherstdale, was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. B.G. Guthrie and Trooper J.D. Hensley of the WVSP for possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy on July 17. He was booked at the regional jail at 1:29 a.m.

• Cecil Grover Keeney, 53, of Davin, was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. B.G. Guthrie and Trooper J.D. Hensley of the WVSP for possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy on July 17. He was booked at the regional jail at 1:20 a.m.

• Tamala T'Meikia Parnell, 31, was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. B.G. Guthrie and Trooper J.D. Hensley of the WVSP for possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy on July 17. She was booked at the regional jail at 1:41 a.m.

According to police reports, at 6:30 p.m. on July 16, Sgt. Guthrie received an anonymous tip about "a large amount of drugs at Mark Copley's residence in Amherstdale."

"This officer, Sgt. BM. Brown, Sgt. J.B. Frye and Trooper P.J. Dick then traveled to the Copley residence," the report states. "These officers then received consent to search the residence from Copley. The search generated a large amount of drugs including pills, crack cocaine, marijuana and heroine. In addition, a large amount of cash and a 9mm pistol were seized.”

• Andrew David Boggess, 21, of Logan, was arrested in Logan County by officers Mark Dickerson and Kevin Conley of the Logan PD for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance on June 27.

According to police reports, the officers responded to a call about a man passed out behind the wheel of a black Dodge Truck in the McDonald’s drive-thru lane.

"This officer attempted several times to wake Boggess up with negative results," the report states. "This officer then put the vehicle in park and turned the motor off. Upon Boggess exiting the vehicle this officer also observed him to be very unsteady and staggering against the vehicle. Upon speaking with Boggess further, this officer was advised he had consumed approximately six to eight beers. "

Boggess reportedly failed three field sobriety tests.

"Upon an inventory of said suspect vehicle, officers located three prescription bottles in the center console. The largest bottle with no label contained four different types of tablets identified as hydrocodone with a quantity of 58 pills. Second bottle also unmarked contained 61 green round pills with the numbers 93 over 833 which were unidentified. The third bottle contained 61 xanax one milligram tablets wit h two different types inside. "

A total of 1719 pills were seized. One bottle had the name of another individual on the label.

"Boggess stated he had in fact consumed approximately six to eight t beers and three to four hydrocodone pills along with one xanax."

He was booked at the regional jail at 9 a.m.

I think the cops in Logan County need to make it policy to look for reasons to pull over and subsequently search any vehicle in the area bearing Michigan tags. It's no big secret that 99% of these people are in the area to sell drugs.
