Sparks-Vance to wed Aug. 8 — Jennifer Marie Sparks and Randall Dwight Vance are please to announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage. The bride-elect is the daughter of Alan and Teresa Sparks of Barker Fork of Chapmanville and the granddaughter of Ruby Stowers of Barker Fork, the late Albert "Junior" Stowers and Clyde and Nora Sparks of Big Creek. Jennifer is employed at Women's and Children’s Hospital and Logan Regional Hospital as an OB/Labor/Delivery Nurse. The prospective groom is the son of Randall and Regina Kay Vance of Chapmanville, and the grandson of Delfie Vance of Chapmanville, the late Golden Vance and the Late George and Eleanor Dalton of Harts. Dwight is employed by Massey Energy as an electrician at the Inman mine. The couple will exchange vows with family and close friends August 8, 2009 in an outdoor ceremony with Douglas Elkins, uncle of the bride, officiating. The couple will honeymoon in Williamsburg, Va. Kelly-Ellis to wed Aug. 1 — Along with their parents, Anitra Marie Kelly and Joseph Thomas Ellis are pleased to announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage. The bride-elect is the daughter of Peter and Gloria Kelly of Logan. Anitra graduated from Logan High with the class of 2006 and is a 2009 graduate of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College with an Associates of the Arts degree. She is currently a student in the Southern Nursing program. Anitra is employed by Logan County Board of Education as head Track and Field coach at Logan High School. The prospective groom is the son of Orville Jr. and Sharon Ellis of Chapmanville. Joe is a 2003 graduate of Chapmanville High School and is also a student at Southern studying elementary education. He is employed by the U.S. Army and is scheduled to deploy to the Kuwait area in late October 2009. The couple will exchange vows at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009, at the Shamrock Freewill Baptist Church, with Orville Ellis Jr. father of the groom, performing the ceremony. A reception will be held in the church dining hall following the ceremony.
Four years old — Charli MaLeah Estrathers of Omar celebrated her fourth birthday on May 15, 2009. She is the daughter of Manuel Jr. and Flora Estrathers of Omar. She has one sister, Kali. Charli is the granddaughter of Charles and Brenda Blankenship and Manuel and Lorene Estrathers, all of Omar.
One year old — William Jayce Wolfe celebrated his first birthday on June 18, 2009. Jayce is the son of Joe and Leslie Wolfe and the grandson of Les and Diana Hooker, Christina Wolfe and the late Bill Wolfe, all of Omar. His great-grandparents are Hobart and Doris Adkins of Barnabus, and Henry and Loretta Hooker and June Jenkins, all of Omar. Jayce celebrated with a cookout at his home attended by family, friends and several special cousins including Ava Albright, Jordan Adkins, Kaylee Wolfe and Hunter and Aiden Napier.
Introducing — Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Karen) Raines of Phico would like to introduce their granddaughter, Madelyn Grace Cooper. Maddy was born on June 26, 2009, to her parents, Chris and Ashley Raines Cooper of St. Louis, Mo. Her paternal grandparents are Gary and Sue Cooper also of St. Louis. Maddy is also the great-granddaughter of Ralph Noe, the late Jeanette Noe, and Lowell and Jean Raines.
Eleven years old — Mariah Collins celebrated her eleventh birthday on July 7, 2009, with family and friends. She is the daughter of Josh Collins and Kristi Collins of Switzer, and the granddaughter of Connie Collins, also of Switzer, and Nikki Nelson of Logan. Mariah is the great-granddaughter of Janet Collins and Freddie and Eloise Collins, all of Switzer, and Randall and Katherine O’Neal of Huntington.
Seven years old — Hannah Jane Adkins will celebrate her seventh birthday on July 20, 2009. She is the daughter of Sammie Robinette and Tina Adkins, both of Switzer, and the granddaughter of Sandy Adkins and Hobo Rose and Freddie and Eloise Collins, also all of Switzer. She is the great-granddaughter of Letha Mae Maynard. She is the sister of Patrick Robinette and an aunt to Xavier Michael Joe Robinette of Fairmont.
Three years old — Parker Joseph Green celebrated his third birthday with a luau themed party hosted by his Mamaw and Papaw Collins at their home on June 2, 2009, with many friends and family attending. Parker is the son of Kellie Frye (Jebb Farmer) of Chapmanville and Brandon Green of Madison. He is the nephew of his bubby, Randall Ray Frye; the grandson of Nana Nancy Davis and Mikey Marine of Logan, Randy Frye of Omar, and Janice and Jimmy Huffman and Bubby and Peggy Green, all of Madison. His great-grandparents are Freddie and Eloise Collins and Irene Frye, all of Switzer, and the great-great-grandson of Letha May Maynard of Rossmore. Parker is the fifth generation of his family.
Seven years old — Jessica Booth will be celebrating her seventh birthday today, July 26, with family and friends. Jessica is the daughter of James and Keri Booth of Alabama, formerly of Michigan. She is the granddaughter of Tracy and Barbara Belcher of Crawley Creek, Allen and Carol Booth of Verdunville and Lora Bowers of Alabama.
