MAN, W.Va. — Mrs. Janice L. Browning, 72, of Man, was born July 2, 1937, at Cooks Addition, a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Opal Hall Browning. She departed this life Sunday at home with her loving family at her side.

Also preceding her in death was her husband of 27 years, Buel “Bert” Browning; one son, Robert William Browning; seven brothers, Chauncey W. “Bill” Browning, Evan Hall, Bill Hall Jr., Willie Hall, Bert Hall, Eugene “Tivis” Hall and Cecil Hall; one sister, Francis Thacker; two sons-in-law, Ricky Cantrell and David “Skip” Bennett; her grandparents, who raised her, Bill and Mary Hall; one great-grandson, Justin Maynard, and her life long friend who is gone but not forgotten, Eddie Manheir, her fishing buddy.

Janice loved to crochet, fish and watch NCIS on Tuesday nights. She loved the New River and all the special times there.

Survivors include three daughters, Gina (Randall) Price of Palm Bay, Fla., Debra (Butch) Jeffrey of Accoville and Wilma Browning of Man; one son, Michael Jones of Georgia; two brothers, O.C. Hall of Allen, Ky., and Dean Hall of Blue Creek, Ohio; three sisters, Priscilla ‘Patty’ (George) Heaton of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Goldie Parsons of Peebles, Ohio, and Ruth Hall of Springfield, Tenn.; five grandsons, Ricky Cantrell of Man, Robert (Terena) Cantrell of Tennessee, James “Aaron” (Renee) Cantrell of Fla., Don Adkins of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and Gary Jones of Man; five granddaughter, Kimberly Jones of Thompson, Ga., Amber and Elizabeth Jeffery of Accoville, Mary “Margaret” Browning of Alderson, and Heather McCue & Tracy; great-grandchildren, Wade Maynard and Ryan and Tyler Cantrell, all of Man, Danny and Tommy Cantrell of Hartsville, Tenn., Jacob Jeffery of Springfield, Tenn., Carmen Olivia Guttiera of Thompson, Haley Jeffery of Accoville, and Kayla, Keily, Kenny, Aaron, Adriana, Melisa, Daniel and Sara and Andrew Hale; “special daughter,” Sharon Davidson; a host of special friends including, Jesse and Kay Albright, who were with her at her passing, Junior Jeffrey, Eddie and Lucy Spears, Tabitha Gibson, and Paul and Betty Smith; special great-niece, Jennifer Aliff and Semaj Hooks, and her loving dog of 15 years, Casper.

Janice’s wishes were to be cremated. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the Becco United Baptist Church with no further services and cremation following the visitation.
