Forty-five fathers were honored on Father's Day, June 21, at the First Baptist Church of McConnell. Each father was given a pair of Christian witness wear socks. A special prayer was offered for the men and special recognitions went to the oldest father, Fred Dillon, the youngest father, Daniel Cantrell, the father with the youngest child, Aaron Kelly, and a tie for the father with the most children present, Pastor John E. Godby, David Woolsey, and Orie Simpkins. These winners were given a box of candy. Pastor Godby gave a message entitled, "The Role of the Father."
