Born March 5, 1925, in Hurley, Va., he was a son of the late Charles and Tilda Hunt Hurley. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Elester Hurley and Oscar “Shorty” Hurley.
Acey was a veteran of World War II and a retired mineworker from Chafin Coal Company, where he worked for over 40 years.
Additionally, those left to cherish his memory include his one and only loving daughter, Beverly (Dale) Brown of Huntington; his only granddaughter, Wendy (Kevin) Maynard of Huntington; two very special great-grandchildren, J.D. “good buddy” Berry and Jordan Maynard, both of Huntington, and two sisters, Gladys Lockhart of Ohio and Mary Mutters of Mount Gay.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 9, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. Dewight Stafford officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
