Man golf wins meet at Twisted Gun; Logan drops two matches

WHARNCLIFFE – The Man High School golf team scored an easy victory on Monday in a triangular meet with Iaeger and Mount View at the Twisted Gun Golf Course at Wharncliffe in Mingo County.

Tyler Browning had a 37 to lead the Billies. Rodney Amburgey had a 38, T.J. Justice a 41 and Aaron Willard a 42.

Man, coached by first-year mentor Todd Clark, is scheduled to see action again on Thursday at the same Twisted Gun Golf Course against Westside and Mount View and Iaeger again.

The Logan High School golf team has gotten the ‘09 season off to a rough start with a pair of duel meet losses.

The Wildcats opened on Aug. 13 at Big Bend as Herbert Hoover won by 35 strokes.

Logan had a 220, while the Huskies fired a 185.

Eric Burnette had a 51 to lead LHS. Nicholas McDonald had a 53 and Cody Baisden and Kacie Harrison each had a 58. Tyler Barrett had a 62.

On Monday at Scarlett Oaks in Poca, Logan lost to Nitro by 29 shots. Logan had a 221, while Nitro had a 192.

Burnette led the way as he shot a 49. Baisden had a 53, McDonald a 58, Sean Herndon a 61 and Harrison an 82.

Next up for the Logan golf team is Thursday’s match against Cross Lanes Christian at the Logan Country Club in Chpamanville.

Logan is coached by Cliff Motes.
