Alan Joe Lusk, 26, of Amherstdale, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper J.E. Williams for possession of child pornography and soliciting minors via a computer on August 28.
According to police reports, on August 28, WVSP troopers Williams, B.E. Guthrie, J.B. Frye and J.K. Harris traveled to Proctor Bottom in response to a call about shots being fired and suspicious persons.
"Upon investigation, these officers arrived at the residence of Alan J. Lusk," the report states
"Upon speaking with the defendant, Mr. Lusk allowed these officers permission to search the contents of his computer. During this inquiry, Mr. Lusk advised these officers that he had previously solicited underage females for sex. Upon advising Mr. Lusk of his constitutional rights, the defendant (said) that he had solicited females for sex on the same computer in question. The defendant (said) the females were known to be between the ages of 13 and 16 years old.
“Also, Mr. Lusk then (said) he had watched explicit videos of child pornography within the last three years,” the report continnued. “The defendant further stated that these videos were downloaded to the same computer ranging from females ages 9-12 years old. This occurred approximately 20 times according to the defendant."
Lusk was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 4:15 a.m. Following arraignment he was released on a property bond. According to Magistrate Dwight Williamson, there may be some problems with the case later in court. "At this point, it appears that the defendant may be developmentally disabled," Williamson noted. "He appears to have the mind of a child himself, which can be problematic from a legal standpoint and other standpoints."
