On Tuesday, July 23, 2009, the Hatfield-McCoy Convention and Visitors Bureau hosted a FAM tour for representatives of the West Virginia Division of Tourism. The tour allowed the Bureau to showcase some of Logan County’s highlights in hopes to increase tourism within the county. The visitors began their tour at Logan’s City Hall on Tuesday morning where they were greeted by Mayor Serafino Nolletti and given a brief history on City Hall’s former life as the Logan Train Station. The participants then hit the Hatfield-McCoy Trails for a two-hour ride on the Bearwallow Trails.

Once back to Logan, the group proceeded to tour the Coalfield Jamboree Theatre and Aracoma Hotel where they were treated to appetizers provided by the hotel’s new manager, Angel Medina. The tour continued with stops at Smith House Bed and Breakfast, the new Chief Logan Recreational Center, Chief Logan Lodge and Conference Center, and the Logan County Farmer’s Market. The tour ended with a stop in Chief Logan State Park where tours of the Museum in the Park, Wildlife Center, and Liz Spurlock Amphitheatre were given and the tour group was presented with “A Taste of Logan” picnic and musical performance by local musician, Roger Bryant.

Those who participated on the tour from the West Virginia Division of Tourism were Donna Briggs, Lee Smith, Jacob Haught, Debbie Sparks, Cliff Isaacs and Kathy Johnson.

The Hatfield-McCoy Convention and Visitors Bureau appreciates the following individuals for dedicating their time to showcase some of the highlights of Logan County: Mayor Serafino Nolletti, Gary Hylton, Libby Albright (Nu-Era Bakery), Jeff Lusk and Johnny Fekete (Hatfield-McCoy Trails), Stephen Anderson (WV ATV Tours), Jackie Tomblin (Coalfield Jamboree Theatre), Angel Medina (Aracoma Hotel), Deloris Roberts (Smith House Bed and Breakfast), Tim McCoy (Chief Logan Recreational Center), Dan Taylor and Kathy Fout (Chief Logan Conference Center), Joy Vance (Logan Farmer’s Market), Frankie Esposito and Elizabeth Williams (Museum in the Park), Bruce Collinsworth (Chief Logan State Park), Roger Bryant, Jamie Paynter (The Firepit), Jay Mayhorn (Morrison’s Drive-Inn), Justin Chirico (Chirico’s Ristorante), Diana O’Briant and Bill France (The Aracoma Story, Inc.), and Steven Stone.
