The Aunt Jennie’s Music Festival will be held this weekend in Chief Logan State Park at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheatre. Robert Shafer and the Pour House Band is one of the groups performing. At right, known for her powerful voice and her heartfelt original songs Elaine Purkey is a regular on the Friendly Neighbor Show, which broadcasts weekly from Chapmanville. Self-employed as a freelance organizer and activist, Purkey lives in Ranger in Lincoln County and is pictured backstage with music festival emcee Roger Bryant during the 2008 festival. The celebration will include two outdoor concerts on Saturday, from 4 p.m.-10:30 p.m., and Sunday, from 1-6 p.m.
